Medical Conditions and Ferric Orthophosphate

If someone wants to start a new medication or supplement of Ferric Orthophosphate, he/she must first consult with a medical practitioner or pharmacist to ensure that there will be no interactions with the current medications or medical conditions.

List of some medications are:

  1. ·         Bisphosphonates to treat bone-loss
  2. ·         Medication for Parkinson’s disease
  3. ·         Antibiotics
  4. ·         Low thyroid function
  5. ·         Medication for high blood pressure
  6. ·         Medication for rheumatoid arthritis

Iron can reduce the effects of the above medications. Pregnant Women often take a vitamin containing Iron such as FerricOrthophosphate but the proper level of doses must be ensured by the doctor.

Use of Ammonium ferric citrate

 Ammonium Ferric Citrate is a compound with the formula (NH 4 ) 5 [Fe(C 6 H 4 O 7 ) 2 ] has a distinguishing feature which is that it is too much soluble in water whereas ferric citrate is less soluble in water. Each moiety of citric acid with its Crystal structure has lost four protons.
